Pastry Making

We make the pastry onsite for all our savoury and sweet pies. The craft of mixing the ingredients in a perfect way and using the pastry brake to press out the pastry layers is an art in itself. The Lochinver Larder way, with a secret recipe. Pastry makes our pies so uniquely special: it's a really important job!

PASTRY MAKER

We're actively on the lookout for a Pastry Maker to support daily production by preparing high-quality pastry for our much-loved pies.

You’ll play a vital role in keeping our kitchen running smoothly, working efficiently to supply our pie makers with fresh pastry throughout the day.

Join the team behind the famous Lochinver Larder pies — handmade with pride in the heart of the Highlands.

Enjoy living and working in a team, in the heart of Lochinver, Assynt and the NW Highlands. So much to explore and experience!

LOCATION

Looking out westward across the loch, our bistro restaurant and pie making has been at the heart of Lochinver for 30 years - located exactly where the River Inver cascades into the sea loch.

Lochinver is a popular stop on the NC500. People stop up in Lochinver before going off the beaten track to nearby Achmelvich beach (voted One of the Worlds's Best Beaches) with its white sands and blue waters. Or taking the 'Drumbeg Loop of the NC500' back upto Kylesku. Some travel through to Achiltibuie and the stunning beach of Achnahaird Beach, nestled below a shoreline view across to Quinag, Canisp, Suilven, Cul Mor, Stac Pollaidh and Cul Beag mountains.

Working and living in Lochinver is a gateway to some of the most beautiful landscapes in the whole of the UK. Lots to do in the water, up the mountains, out on the hill, fishing, biking and so much more. Outdoors and in all seasons of the weather...

Lochinver offers adventure and exploration on your doorstep. It is a fishing port with a handful of bars, restaurants, shops, and a medical centre, a garage and, yes, a famous pie shop too!

Unbelievable Pies - What can I say, the pies are just FANTASTIC, the resturant a great place to meet, I have been going here since it opened and the choice and the quality has just got better and better. A MUST visit if you are in the area !

BENEFITS

Full time staff often choose to be paid a regular (hence predictable) salary, each month, throughout the whole year. This helps with regular bills. But they actually do more hours per week in the high season (May-September), and less hours per week in the winter season. January/February is also a good time to take longer holiday breaks.

Seasonal staff can take hours as their situation demands, and all staff, whether seasonal, part-time or casual get holiday allowance pro-rata for the hours they do.

We do like making sure everyone gets their fair share of paid holiday, in addition to the hours they put into team work.

Why work with us?
  • Learn and grow with full training and support
  • Flexible working hours
  • Staff accommodation may be available for the right candidate
Be part of a renowned Highlands food destination and join the team with good benefits.

Kitchens

The real action is in the Kitchen! Our pies are famous and popular, so there are daily bake-offs by our pie makers. All pie fillings are cooked onsite in the kitchen, ready for pie assembly on the back room tables, using our own pastry too. Beyond our homemade pies, we cook up seasonal specials for menu variety for those visiting our Lochinver site. Our pies, though, get sent around the UK via Pies by Post.

We are always looking for people to join in this role, if there is a good fit. We combine seasonal and casual staff with our full-time team, with a flexibility of rotas and shifts. If you are excited by pies and working with us in Lochinver - then send us your details.

We’re always looking out for Kitchen Team Members to join our skilled kitchen brigade — including chefs at all levels and those interested in learning the art of pie making. From daily prep to producing our renowned pies and seasonal specials, you’ll be part of a team delivering great food with care, quality, and a touch of creativity.

Great food in great location - Very nice set up on their take away service. Whilst a long queue, it went down quickly. Not long to wait. Very friendly staff. Ordered Cullen Skink and Pulled pork panini. Both were amazing. Can highly recommend. 👍
