GDPR RULES

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was put into effect on May 25, 2018. It regulates privacy and security standards for every business that captures information.

Your information must be tied to one or more stated uses of your information, so that you the consumer can either "Opt-In" or "Opt Out" of specific uses of your data.

You must be clear about which service you are opting-in or opting-out from.

Today some browsers allow you to navigate the internet "incognito", unknown to computers which serve you webpages.

However you also need to submit information to buy things online, or to subscribe to a certain digital newspaper, for example.

In the e-commerce instance there is "legitimate use" of your data to complete an online transaction as you check-out a basket order; but in the newsletter or newspaper example, you need to "subscribe", ie purposefully Opt-In, to receive that service. The information provider needs to store your details to be able to send you the information service you requested.

At Lochinver Larder we ask for you information under specific GDPR Subscriptions, and explain below what they are.

A) UK Regulatory

1. COVID 19 REGISTRATION

With the easing of Coronavirus Lockdown, the UK Government has advised it is mandatory for bars and restaurants to capture customer information, for the benefit of supporting the Government's Track & Trace capability.

You are required to register your information before being served at any of our payment terminals. Your email address will be stored in a separated Covid 19-only contact list for 4 weeks from that payment/visit date, or as stipulated by UK Government advice, and will not be linked directly to any of our marketing subscriptions. That is our promise to protect your privacy. Signing into Covid 19 Registration will not automatically link you to any marketing activity by Lochinver Larder.

B) GDPR "OPT-IN": FOR MARKETING SUBSCRIPTIONS

To receive the benefits of any of our Marketing Subscriptions you will need to separately "Opt-In" to the use of your email and other personal information.

Each of these marketing subscriptions require a GDPR opt-in for the use of your email, and the additional details we collect from you. At any time you can opt-out of one, some or all of these Subscriptions.

Note Click & Collect has been discontinued in 2024, as our indoor pie shop now offers hot and cold takeaway orders at the shop-counter, or seated service at the dining tables.
